DIALOGUE

(a boy approaches Ali)

ALI

Beat it!

BOY

Men have two faces.

(the boy hands Ali a letter and turns to leave)

ALI

Wait! Know how to read?

BOY

Yes.

ALI

Here!

BOY

(reading from the letter)

There’s a Moorish café, rue Randon, the Casbah.

Magherbi, the owner is an informer. Every evening at

exactly five o’clock a policeman comes by.

He goes in for coffee, exchanges a few words and gets

information. Then he leaves. You are to kill this policeman.

ALI

Not the owner?

BOY

It says the policeman.

ALI

Alright.

BOY

You can’t go wrong. Near the café will be a young girl with

a basket. You are to follow the policeman together. At the right

moment she’ll give you a gun. All you have to do is shoot.

(Ali takes the gun and moves in front of the policeman)

(the Girl with the Basket tries to stop him)

ALI

(to Girl)

Let go!

(to French Policeman)

So you’re scared.

(to street crowd)

Brothers! See what the Organization is doing to this coward.
